It's been a long weekend...

Here's the new addition to the household. His name is Archie (yes after Cary Grant) and he is just as sweet as can be. The cats don't seem to like him too much just yet, but we're working on that. I will say that it is much easier to knit with a cat on your lap than it is with a puppy. First thing he did was attack my yarn, no damage done though. Anyway, who has time to knit with a 5 month old puppy keeping you busy?

I do! I'll find the time if it kills me. Although it might mean sneaking out to the living room at all hours of the night; but seriously, now I have the cats to tend to, the dog, and lets not forget my handsome, strong, smart, sweet, and loving boyfriend. All four need my attention and care, which leaves little time for my knitting (or this blog). I'm sure once we all get in a routine I'll have a little more time for my knitting. Speaking of, my next project (even though I already have a few in the making) is going to be booties. Well, just sample booties. I'm only going to make one single bootie per design. Then when I need to make a pair I can refer to my "samples" and pick the best one for the project or baby I'm making it for. What a great idea, right? Well, even if you don't agree, I know it'll come in handy for me. Plus it makes for an easy project in between puppy training. I still have a baby sweater in the works, a blanket, and socks. And yes, by this fall I'll be making little sweaters for Archie. Oop, I hear my name being called, better go.

Guess what I'm getting! That's right a puppy! He'll be here next weekend for a trial run, don't worry I'll take lots of pictures!

I think Bessos knows a dog is coming. She has found the highest spot in the house and spends most of her time there. It's over six feet high.

Ok, now for the knitting, and a little crochet too. He's an i-cord that I made the other night because I was bored and didn't feel like working on any of my projects or starting anything new. Don't know what I'll do with it, I guess maybe I'll put it in the box of all my other useless knitted things. Someday they'll be worth something, right?

Ah yes, more baby stuff. Here's a quick little bonnet I made, only took me two nights to complete. I think I'll make a few more in some different colors.

What's this? A baby dolphin!? This is my latest crochet project. I had some leftover yarn and thought a little purple dolphin was just what Easter needed. Maybe a pink horse next time. Stuffed animals are one of my favorite things to make. I've got piles of patterns. I think it's because when I was young that's a lot of what I made.

So, that's about all I've been doing. Oh, also got my herb garden planted and a few flowers out. Glad spring is finally here and the windows can be open. I'm looking forward to walks with the new family member. Like I said, I'll take plenty of photos.

Happy Birthday to me!

Never say never! Here they are, my second attempt at two socks on two needles and toe up socks. I decided to try the two on two again after the first pair of toe up socks, simple because I thought starting at the toe would be easier then at the top (and it is). I also decided to try the toe up socks again after a modification to the toe. On the first pair I disliked the pointed toe, so on this pair I made a more rounded toe, and I like the look of it much better. Wanting them to be different then your usual sock (and more difficult) I decided to add an nice lace pattern to the top. See... I can't wait until they are done, (thirty years form now).

And yes, today is my birthday and look at what my wonderful parents got me. The books I wanted, how did they know? I also got a super cool knitting tote from my big sister (I'll have pictures of it next time). And from my little brother and sister-in-law I got a really cool tea set with a little glass tea pot and flowering tea. All in all it was one of my better birthdays, and I think this year will be pretty good too.

This peach thing is the beginning of a baby sweater I'm making. It'll just be plain knit with a garter border, then I'm going to embroider the shoulders with some flowers or something. Good grief, this one is going to take years too. Ok, let's look at the finished projects.

Here is a little romper I just made. I made this with some cheap acrylic, perfect for baby clothes. I do like making the keepsake baby items out of the finest wool, or cotton, but for those everyday items I find something easily washed and dried is much better on baby and mommy, and they're just as cute.

And finally, the afghan. I decided it was finished when I ran out of yarn, I did think about buying more to make it a little bigger, but then I just figured what the hell, it's done. Now I can pack it away for winter. Oh, and I'm still working on that baby blanket from the last post, only two more skeins to go! Maybe I'll have it done by May, 2007.

So, that's what I've been doing that past couple weeks, I hope to get these post on quicker, but some weeks I just don't have much to show. However, I do think this month is going to be a good knitting month. Heck, with all my great gifts what else will there be to do?
